I’ve been very busy after a very lovely holiday in Mallorca. I’m back in my Brighton studio designing and painting lots of lovely new bird characters on wood in readiness for my Summer exhibitions. I’ve collected local driftwood all Winter, dragged sodden pieces across beaches back to my car, walking in sideways rain and what felt like gale force winds. These collected pieces then took weeks to dry out around my home, i then hand sawed some of them, finally sanding them so they were ready for my creations.
So ……..now is the best bit, after designing a bird i then rummage through my massive pile of driftwood that is lovingly prepped and ready to go, i’ve got some gorgeous pieces, one of these is in the photo, it must have been part of a boat. Completely out of my comfort zone as i’ve painted on a red background for the very first time! She is called Meredith and is a definite favourite of mine, this is a link to her listing – https://liztoole.co.uk/product/m/
My latest birds will be flying off to appear in exhibitions with Number 4 Gallery, New Ashgate Gallery, Jane Reeves Gallery, Hawksbys and the new Julia Mills Gallery. I’ve also kept some to sell on my website and to show at Artwave where i will be showing with Artbox again in Swanborough http://www.artwavefestival.org/
Dates for your diary, very exciting i’ll be showing at Kew Gardens in October, i’m hoping to be given some free tickets to giveaway to my customers so if you’d be interested please get in touch, this is the link to the show – http://www.handmadeinbritain.co.uk/shows/kew/exhibitors/ I’ll also be showing at Festival of Crafts at the lovely Farnham Maltings again a few days after Kew.
That’s all for now folks i’ve got lots of pieces of driftwood waiting to be adorned with my creations….
